We care about your privacy

Your privacy matters to us at Squegy. We respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you across our website.

This Privacy Policy explains how Squegy collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Platform"). If you have questions, email [email protected].

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Name, email address, and phone number;
  • Profile information, including photos and bio;
  • Payment information: we do not store your card details. Payment data goes directly to our payment partners (such as Stripe, Paystack, or Flutterwave, depending on where you use the Platform) and is governed by their respective privacy policies;
  • Messages and communications with support or other users.

1.2 Information We Collect Automatically

  • Device type, operating system, and app version;
  • IP address;
  • Usage data and logs (pages visited, features used, session duration);
  • Location data, when you grant permission.

1.3 Location Data

We collect your location when you use the app and have granted location permission. This is how we connect you with nearby Artisans and provide accurate service estimates.

We do not share your precise location with third parties for advertising. Location data is used only to power Platform features.

You can withdraw location permission at any time through your device settings. Some features may not work without it.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Operate and improve the Platform;
  • Facilitate bookings and payments;
  • Verify identity and prevent fraud;
  • Provide customer support;
  • Send service-related notifications (booking confirmations, status updates, receipts).

We do not use your data for profiling or automated decision-making that has legal effects on you.

3. Sharing of Information

We may share your information with:

  • Other users, limited to what is necessary for a booking. An Artisan sees your name and service address; a Client sees the Artisan's name and profile;
  • Payment processors and service providers who help us operate the Platform;
  • Law enforcement or regulators, when required by law or court order;
  • Business partners in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you where required.

We do not sell personal data.

4. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes.

When you delete your account, we begin the deletion process within 30 days. Some records may be kept longer where required by law, for example, financial transaction records.

5. Data Security

We protect your data using encryption in transit and at rest, access controls that limit who within Squegy can view personal data, and secure servers hosted with established cloud providers.

No system is completely secure. If we become aware of a breach that affects your data, we will notify you within 72 hours of becoming aware of it and take immediate steps to contain the impact.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Correct or update your information;
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data;
  • Object to certain types of processing.

Email [email protected] to exercise any of these rights. We will respond within 14 days.

6.1 UK GDPR

If you are in the United Kingdom, we process your personal data under the UK GDPR on one or more of the following lawful bases: performance of a contract with you; our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Platform (where those interests are not overridden by your rights); compliance with a legal obligation; and consent, where we ask for it (for example, for certain marketing messages).

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Details are available at ico.org.uk.

We may transfer personal data between locations where we operate, including Nigeria, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries. When we transfer data across borders, we use appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.

7. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies on the website to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how people use the Platform.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may affect how some features work. We do not use cookies to serve ads or track you across other websites.

8. Third-Party Links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before submitting personal information.

9. Children's Privacy

Squegy is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, email [email protected] and we will remove it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on the Platform and note the date it was last changed. Continued use of the Platform after an update means you accept the revised policy.
